Raúl Urquizo, dean of the Medical Association of Peru (CMP), reported this Thursday that the entity is still waiting for the Plenary Session of Congress to debate and approve the law of double perception for doctors, which he considered will help guarantee the attention of the population, especially for the high infection rate of medical personnel in this third wave.

“In hospitals and first-level health centers there is a high rate of contagion from medical personnel. […] Unfortunately, to this date, Congress has not approved the double perception law, because we are running out of doctors. […] This Law implies that a doctor can work in Social Security and in the minsa, its 150 hours. In the provinces there are no specialists, who is going to attend?”, he explained on RPP.
At another time, Urquizo welcomed the lifting of the curfew and the requirement of a card with three doses for people over 40 years of age in closed spaces, arranged yesterday by the Ministry of Health (Minsa).
“The curfew had to be withdrawn a long time ago because it did not meet the objective of keeping people from getting infected. That measure they took for New Year has not prevented people from getting infected, people have still gathered in more closed environments and suddenly more hours so that the curfew is at 11 pm and they woke up“, he pointed.

In the case of the requirement of the vaccination card, he said that the measure helped more than 80% of the general population already have their two doses and reinforcements, although the latter is still at 26%.
Urquizo also congratulated the start of the vaccination of minors between 5 and 11 years of age, but recommended that the health sector authorities change the schedule strategy so that parents do not have to get up early and stand in long queues, exposing themselves to contagion on the outskirts of vaccination centers.
