(Read: The labor reform was approved in its second debate in Congress).

Through his X account, the head of state assured that with this approval “We are closer to building a fair labor system, focused on protecting workers’ rights”.

In that same sense, the Minister of Labor, Gloria Inés Ramírez, also reacted to the decision and assured that the reform is necessary to bring social justice to the country’s workers.

“We all know that 40% of jobs are at risk, but we also think that there is an impact of technology that is important to keep in mind, because it could also generate jobs”stated the Mintrabajo Ramírez, who added that it seeks to protect “those who are behind the machine, robotics, drones”.

(Besides: Why Petro assured that ‘there is no longer enough money’ for so many environmental catastrophes).

The initiative was officially approved with 81 articles (73 of the articles after the elimination of 7 and eight new ones) in second debate and may move to the Senate, where it will have to be discussed in the Seventh Committee and, if passed, in plenary.

The reform has a deadline to be fully approved (four debates and conciliation) until June 20, 2025.
