“We are not going to cry over spilled milk,” says the PLC after municipal votes

"We are not going to cry over spilled milk," says the PLC after municipal votes

The Liberal Constitutionalist Party (PLC) has remained silent on the results of the municipal elections held on November 6. The Supreme Electoral Council (CSE) did not assign a single mayoralty of the 153 that exist in the country to the Liberals. The organization declared that all the communes were “won” by the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN).

But the national spokesperson for the PLC, Christiam López, has not remained silent and two days after the voting has spoken about the results of the elections in the program “The PLC speaks with its people” that they transmit on their social networks.

López assures that in the PLC “we have not lost, we have given the battle”, although they lost the 11 mayorships that had been appointed in the 2017 elections. He stated that they are “respectful” of the law and says that “they should be reviewed” the results of the Vote Receiving Boards (JRV) of some nine municipalities in the country.

“Tell me that La Cruz de Río Grande, El Tortuguero, Santo Domingo, Muelle de los Bueyes, Camoapa, San José de los Remates were lost, please, that they are eminently liberal municipalities. They should be reviewed,” stressed the spokesman for the political party accused of being collaborators with the Ortega and Murillo regime.

“There were reception boards where the minutes were not delivered, where the ballots that entered were not counted, what it damages is the image of that power of the State, the Supreme Electoral Council, which is in charge of promoting, governing and creating the necessary conditions for that ordinary citizens vote, regardless of the candidate of our choice. I thought that this time the Council was going to worry about giving more transparency to the process », he mentioned.

They denounce “obstacles and rigged things”

López denounced that the Police prevented the PLC from transporting its sympathizers in vans so that they could vote in the municipal elections, but they did allow FSLN supporters to do so. In addition, he showed images of a group of caponeras that loaded fuel at a gas station on Carretera a Masaya to transport Sandinista voters.

“Why do the PLCs prevent us? The Police is always there hindering the citizen. Let us vote. What is the fear? What is the OBJETIVE? Scare the population so they don’t go to vote,” lashed the liberal.

«Despite so many obstacles, so many tricks, so many rigged things that they put in our way, the PLC put up a fight. And to this day I don’t know if the Supreme Electoral Council sends the Police… May our Lord God have mercy on our country and our people, may God have mercy on us,” he added.

He assured that the JRVs where 100% of the population voted were rare and few, and the JRVs where 50% voted were also rare and few. “The majority did not vote, not even 20% of the population. I do not believe in that 54.9% who say they went out to vote”, he said and described the data presented by the CSE as a “supposed result”.

«How does the Supreme Electoral Council obtain the percentages (of the votes)? Suddenly some inflated (results) come out. It definitely leaves a lot of doubt,” he said.

Prosecutors from the PLC were expelled from some JRVs

The mayoral candidate of the PLC in San Rafael del Sur, Otoniel Espinoza, also denounced that the prosecutors of his party were prevented from entering to observe the process in some Voting Centers. In addition, that the technological kiosks of the CSE were not functional because some citizens presented “any document” to vote. “It was rigged… We have lost a battle, but not the war,” Espinoza assured.

López denounced that in the municipality of San Juan de Oriente the PLC prosecutors were removed from the computer centers. “If you do this, why am I going to believe that the statements you give are correct or true?” López asked the CSE.

“There are municipalities that fight, but we are clear that it is difficult to obtain the mayor’s office, but there are other municipalities where they are eminently liberal and that is where doubts grow. That the results are inflated, they are inflated. We have not lost, we have fought… we are respectful of the law », he acknowledged.
