“I want to give them a piece of victory by being world champions in 2024. We feel great joy and satisfaction for having achieved another title for our country with the most successful sport in Colombia,” said Alberto Herrera Ayala, president of the Colombian Skating Federation.
Among the most outstanding athletes, the young Yicel Camila Giraldo has shone with 4 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze, becoming one of the emerging figures of Colombian skating. In the senior category, María Fernanda Timms stood out with 3 golds and 1 silver, while Juan Jacobo Mantilla won 2 gold medals and 1 bronze.
Other disciplines won medals for the first time
In addition to the achievements in speed skating, the president of the Federation highlighted the medals obtained for the first time in other disciplines of roller skating. «We are making history with disciplines such as skateboarding, obtaining for the first time a medal in a world championship in the street modality through Jhancarlos González. Likewise, in inline downhill, with two bronze medals by Alef Torres and Carlos Quiroga. And we cannot forget artistic skating, with silver medals by Jeshua Folleco and Brayan Carreño, in addition to bronzes in dance and high junior.
