The dispute for the control of the Municipal Council of Santa Cruz de la Sierra continues. The opposition councilors, who declared themselves in vigil since Friday night, decided this Sunday to maintain the measure because they fear that their building will be taken by force.
“Today I am with council colleagues to defend our institution. (The mayor) Jhonny Fernández wants to take the municipal council to do whatever he wants, (But) We are going to resist and we will fight because this is the last redoubt of unity and transparency, ”said Councilor José Alberti, president in the exercise of the Legislative.
Alberti summoned the crossings and their institutions, such as the Pro Santa Cruz Committee, “be on alert (…) for a possible violent shot ”of the council. “However, we are not afraid, we are here with the neighbors to take care of and defend the interests of Santa Cruz,” he said.

Alberti considered that Mayor Fernández “wants to assault” the municipal council to approve a new loan of more 600 million Bolivians.
In the same vein, councilor Manuel Mamén Saavedra said that the mayor was not enough to “have destroyed the city” and have taken “more than 1.6 billion Bolivians in credits” because he now wants “600 million more before leaving.”
So, “he still wants to put his hand, but We cannot allow to continue mortgaging the future of the Cruceños”He said.
Last Friday, the Solidarity Civic Unity Bank (UCS) chose a new directive in the Municipal Council with the support of two councilors of Socialism Movement (MAS), in the midst of shouts, cross accusations and a series of incidents.
Autonomous community (CA) described this choice as illegal and denounced an attempt to “blow” in the legislative body, so it now promotes a vigil.
