“We are all wrong”: Cuban exjection is deported to the island

Juana Orquídea Acanda Rodríguez

Arequipa, Peru – The former Cuban Juana Orquídea Acanda Rodríguez was deported to the island this Saturday after agents of the Customs Office and Border Protection (CBP) detected that they hid a key information about its political and professional past during its visa application process.

Journalist Mario J. Pentón shared the news in its official websitewhere he also presented statements by the 62 -year -old woman, who tried to enter the United States as an immigrant after being claimed by his son, citizen of that country.

As CBP reported to Pentón, the exjueza lied during consular interviews, in which she omitted that she had worked as an official of the Cuban judicial system and that she was an active militant of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC).

“Men are wrong,” said Rodríguez from Cuba. “I now have health, which is the important thing and I have freedom. I am calm.”

“I am in my house with my partner. I’m fine. Today I arrived in Cuba. I think I had an experience. Having experiences is a good thing. I lived at least – in the conditions that were, but I lived – 21 days in the United States. I didn’t know him. It’s something I met,” he added.

In relation to the past that motivated his expulsion from the United States, the exjudue said: “Life continues. We all wrong. We all have the right to make mistakes. I am a humble woman.”

During the legal process, the authorities indicated that Acanda had “direct links with the Cuban government” and faced charges for fraud, false statements and presentation of fraudulent documents, in accordance with title 18 of the United States Code. The former official was also considered inadmissible under section 212 (a) of the American immigration law.

According to A 2023 report from the local Matanzas channel, Yumurí TVAcanda Rodríguez worked for three uninterrupted decades in the Popular Provincial Court of Matanzas. The same specific note that served in the Criminal Chamber. “I was totally made during those 36 years of justice, as demanded by society,” said the exjudue to Yumurí TV.

On the other hand, a source close to the investigation, which requested anonymity, assured Pentón: “As always happens, the children of the regime’s leaders at all levels go to the United States and then try to bring their old parents to escape the hunger and bad conditions of the hospitals that they created for the people. This has to end.”

The case of Acanda Rodríguez adds to a growing list of officials of the Cuban regime who have tried or managed to establish themselves in US territory, which has generated concern between activists and legislators in southern Florida.

Above cases include that of the engineer Eduardo Enriquez Blancoformer member of the Ministry of Interior who worked in the state company Datys and now resides in Miami; Rosabel Roca Sampedroformer Camagüey based on Houston; and Manuel Menéndez Castellanosformer first secretary of the PCC in Cienfuegos, who entered the US for family reunification.
