Around 500 migrants crossed the Rio Grande, coming from the downtown area of Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, with the aim of reaching El Paso, Texas, and surrendering to elements of the Border Patrol, in order to request political asylum from the government of USA. At least half were Venezuelans, according to versions.

Since last Friday, hundreds of undocumented immigrants have arrived in Juárez aboard trucks and vans; the human traffickers who lead them leave them on the Mexican bank of the Bravo. One of the places where they cross is in the area near the Black Bridge, where a train passes from downtown Juárez to El Paso.

Enrique Valenzuela, coordinator of the State Population Council, stated: We saw many cross; They tell me that they were Venezuelans, I managed to see some, but I could not confirm what nationality they were. According to the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP), 24,916 migrants were detained in the El Paso sector last July, of which 610 were from Venezuela.

Almost 5,000 Haitian migrants were stranded in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, after the US government suspended asylum procedures at its consulate in that border town, Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas reported.

The municipal president emanating from the Morena party indicated that the consul Deana Kim made me aware that the CBP will no longer be accepting Haitianswho were waiting in Nuevo Laredo while they were summoned to request refuge in the neighboring country.

Canturosas assured that the 11 shelters managed by the municipality are operating at their maximum capacity, and his government will continue to support them with shelter and food.

It is estimated that all foreigners have permits to be in Mexico and work, but the group’s plan is unknown.
