Washington residents mobilize against Trump, who receives a blow on his antimigracy offensive

Hundreds of residents of Washington, capital of the United States, took to the streets this Saturday to protest the harassment and detention of migrants by the National Guard and other federal agencies deployed in the city by order of President Donald Trump.

The protest, convened by several organizations in defense of human rights, is motivated by the presence of federal troops in the city that – the direction of the Republican government – have “harassed, monitored and detained for working class residents, migrants and homeless”, according to the call cited by EFE.

Three weeks ago, Trump took control of the Metropolitan Police, deployed hundreds of federal agents and activated some eight hundred members of the National Guard, citing a clause of the Autonomy Law that governs Washington’s self -government since 1973.

He Republican president insists in which his “campaign to banish crimes” is due to the “wave of crimes” that, he says, affects the city, where to date more than six hundred arrests were made, including arrests of undocumented people, according to the White House.

Approximately eight out of ten residents in Washington oppose the Federal Toma of the DC Police and the National Guard Patrols, according to a newspaper of the newspaper The Washington Post and the George Mason University of Virginia.

The decision of a judge in favor of migrants

The protests occur hours after a federal judge failed against the Trump government by preventing the end of the temporal protection status (TPS) who have granted more than 1 million people from Haiti and Venezuela the right to live and work in the United States.

Trump ends the temporary immigration program for more than 300 thousand Venezuelans

The ruling of the United States District Judge, Edward Chen, from San Francisco, in favor of the plaintiffs, means that 600,000 Venezuelans, whose temporary protections expired in April or were about to expire on September 10, maintain their status to remain and work in the United States, underlines a report of CNN.

Cen said that the actions of the Secretary of National Security, Kristi Noem, at the end and annulled three extensions granted by the previous government, exceeded their legal authority and were arbitrary and capricious.
