The National Police of Peru enabled a virtual way to report the loss or theft of the DNI, a procedure that will allow you to obtain a digital certified copy from the comfort of your home.
For voters and polling station members who lost or had their DNI stolen, they may have the alternative of making the respective police report in order to request a waiver before the National Elections Jury (JNE).
The platform Digital Police Report records complaints for loss or theft of the following documents:
- National Identity Document (DNI) for adults
- Passport, driver’s license, Compulsory Traffic Accident Insurance (SOAT).
- University card, photocheck, invoices, bills of sale, referral guides and mobile phones.
The digital police report will grant the complainant – by way of free – a certified copy of this procedure. This document does not expire, has various security mechanisms and has the same legal value as the complaint processed physically at a police station.
Steps to report
To file a digital police report, the user must follow the following steps:
- Enter the page website of the National Police of Peru and look for the “Online Services” section from your computer, tablet or cell phone.
- Choose the option “Digital Police Report” – New Procedure and carefully read the legal terms and conditions of use.
- Enter the required personal data. The system will validate the information with the database of the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec).
- Briefly describe how, where and when your documents were lost or stolen. It is important that this detail appears in your complaint.
- Finally, a certified copy of the Digital Police Report will be generated immediately in PDF format
