The Archbishop of Rio de Janeiro, Cardinal Dom Orani Tempesta, preached the search for peace and everyone’s responsibility in fighting wars, whether in other countries or in our own neighborhood. He celebrated Easter mass at the Metropolitan Cathedral this Sunday (17). Bishop Orani spoke to Brazil Agencyimmediately after the celebration, and asked for respect among all.
“As much as we pray, it seems that people do not understand that we can live in peace, with respect for one another. The war in Europe, but not only in Africa, in the Middle East, the urban war here in the city, makes us think about the responsibility of being paschal men and women. The resurrection is light in the midst of darkness, which leads people to be enlightened in the construction of a new world”, said the cardinal.
Bishop Orani recalled that we all have our part in the search for peace, by building bridges with the poor and needy, so that it is possible to live in fraternity. According to him, each of us has a responsibility to sow peace.
“War is within the heart of man. Away from us, geographically, or by our side, but we think it’s far away, when we don’t love our neighbor, when we don’t do good to each other, when we reject people. Easter is certain that there is no night that always lasts, but that the morning of light and resurrection always arrives”, preached the Archbishop of Rio.
