Wanted criminal dies in attempted robbery

The National Police reported the death of a man, at a time when he was supposedly trying to assault a woman, an act thwarted by a uniformed corporal, in an event that occurred in the Georges neighborhood of La Romana.

According to the authorities, the deceased is Janel Trinidad Padilla, 34 years old, who had a criminal history and was wanted for his alleged involvement in several crimes.

According to the police report, the incident occurred when Trinidad Padilla tried to rob a woman of her belongings using a homemade weapon.

The corporal, who was passing through the place accompanied by his family, intervened to prevent the assault. The uniformed officer indicated that, during the struggle, the aggressor tried to snatch the officer’s service weapon, which resulted in a shot that caused his death.

At the scene of the incident, the Police seized a handmade weapon and a black hood.
