Richard Cisneros, the popular ‘Richard Swing‘, announced his affiliation to the party Green Democrat. The news came via a video posted on the social network TikTok, where the singer and songwriter expressed his enthusiasm for his foray into politics.
“My affiliation with the Green Democratic Party. I want to tell you that today I am very happy because I am starting a new story in my life. I am happy to be here in the Green Democratic Party and we are going to work with honesty and loyalty,” he said.
During the affiliation ceremony, Richard Swing said that the Green Democratic Party is “a party with no criminal record and no complaints, a clean party.”
The leader of the Green Democratic Party and former mayor of San Juan de Lurigancho, Alex Gonzalez, was present during Cisneros’ affiliation and welcomed him.
“Welcome Richard Cisneros, the Green Party welcomes you with open arms to make Peru a better place.”
Richard Swing case
Back in 2020, in the midst of the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the program ‘Magaly TV, La Firme’ revealed that Richard Swing was hired by the Ministry of Culture for nine different services, including motivational talks to workers, earning a total of 175 thousand soles.
Following the countless and harsh criticisms against Richard Cisneros, the Ministry of Culture announced that his contract with the entity was cancelled.
The revelation led to a fiscal investigation, where it was discovered that Cisneros had had ties to Martín Vizcarra, who was the president at the time.
To date, Martín Vizcarra is still being prosecuted for alleged influence peddling for the hiring of singer Richard Swing at the Ministry of Culture. In addition, he was asked to pay provisional compensation of S/ 575,400.
Alejandro Toledo registered as a member of the Green Democratic Party for the 2026 elections
He will also try to be a candidate in the next elections in 2026, in the same style as former president Alberto Fujimori. Former president Alejandro Toledo, who is imprisoned in the Barbadillo prison for the Odebrecht case, has registered as a member of the Green Democratic Party.
According to sources from Peru21, the Green Democratic Party submitted its registration as a member to the National Elections Board (JNE), but the information has not yet been uploaded to the system, and therefore cannot be made visible.
