“For this exhibition, I sought to create an enriching dialogue between emerging talent and the consolidated voices of the art world. The objective was to present fresh perspectives, supported by the influence and depth of recognized artists. This approach embodies the mission of wandering gallery: demolish barriers while staying deeply connected to the roots of the artistic community, ”shared the curator Alessandra Migliano.
In Mexico City, in an old textile factory in Azcapotzalco, a space where the void becomes a possibility arises. “Factory of nothing”, an art and design event presented by Errante Gallery, Alratitostudio and Marion Friedmann Gallery, will open its doors from February 4 to 15, 2025, during the vibrant week of city art.
The exhibition brings together 50 artists, designers and performers that challenge traditional notions of production and consumption, transforming “nothing” into something extraordinary. Under the motto “where the void gives way to the imagination”, factoring of nothing invites visitors to explore the potential of the absence as creative canvas.
“I actively looked for emerging artists who contributed innovative approaches in their work, either through technique, themes or conceptual experimentation. These artists bring energy and freshness to exhibition N, which is essential to maintain dialogue between exciting and dynamic art, design and architecture, ”said Alessandra Migliano.
The headquarters of this event, known as Zyanya, was one of the most important textile factories in Latin America, operating between the 50s and 70s. Today, its exposed brick walls, high ceilings and steel beams have been carefully restored to preserve Its industrial character while hugging modernity. This place, which once symbolized mass production, has become an artistic core where creativity replaces the noise of the machines.
The objective of the curator was to ensure that the selected artists – regardless of their level of recognition – could create a cohesive narrative but in a surprising way; She wanted her works to dialogue with space, offering visitors an attractive experience full of nuances. Ultimately, the selection was guided by the desire to challenge the traditional hierarchies of the art world, offering a vibrant exploration of emerging art in dialogue with consolidated voices. This exhibition celebrates diversity, innovation and collaboration in a unique and enriching environment.
“Factory of anything” is not only an exhibition, but a conversation about the paradox of creation in a world saturated with objects. The sample celebrates the beauty of imperfection, the elegance of the unnecessary and the power of the absurd, while criticizing overproduction and materialism.
Among the prominent artists, Adela Goldbard will open the exhibition with a pyrotechnics experience on February 4, transforming the night sky into their ephemeral canvas. For his part, Ricardo Garduño will present a surrealist piano in collaboration with David Troice and the Texcoco Witch, who will offer a special performance on February 8, intertwining traditional Mexican music with identity and transformation narratives.
Wandering gallery, Alratititudio and Marion Friedmann Gallery lead this initiative. Based in Mexico, Italy, London and Los Angeles, these spaces stand out for their commitment to innovation, sustainable design and the promotion of emerging and consolidated talents. Alessandra Migliano, Nadia Guitteau and Marion Friedmann, founders of these galleries, have joined forces to create a unique platform where art, design and community converge.
“Factory of nothing” is an invitation to rethink our relationship with creation and emptiness. In this space, the industrial past reinvents itself to become a symbol of infinite possibilities, demonstrating that, even in a vacuum, something extraordinary can be born.
“The main reason to collaborate with other projects and gallery has always been to enrich the artistic experience, both for wandering gallery and for the audiences we serve. These collaborations open opportunities to combine diverse perspectives, artistic styles and curatorial approaches, creating a richer and more dynamic offer for all involved. When working with other galleries and projects, I can incorporate new ideas, access new artists and explore different ways to connect with the public.
At the same time, these collaborations allow expanding the scope and projection of wandering gallery, generating significant alliances that benefit both parties. These associations are in tune with the nomadic spirit of the gallery: discover unique spaces, forge creative connections and foster a vibrant exchange between different artistic communities. The result is a more solid and inspiring cultural offer for all ”, Dalessandra Migliano
“Factory of nothing” will be open to the public for 12 days, offering an immersive experience where art, architecture and design are intertwined to challenge perceptions and turn on the imagination. Do not miss this opportunity to be part of an artistic dialogue that promises to be unforgettable.
