Low in Now Nation. He Plenary Session of the National Election Jury (JNE) confirmed the inadmissibility of the retired colonel’s candidacy for the Senate for Huánuco Walter Lozano ‘Bica’ facing the Elections 2026.
In accordance with resolution 0252-2026-JNE, the party of Alfonso López Chau did not reserve a position for Lozano’s nomination in the official list of candidates. Likewise, the electoral body indicated that the former PNP did not participate in the primary elections within the political organization.
For this reason, the JNE specifies, when including Lozano as a candidate for the Senatethe results of the primary elections were not respected and, furthermore, he was appointed without prior reservation of said position. This decision contravenes article 14 of the electoral regulations.
“Now the Nation has failed to adequately attach the documentation required for registration, since both the act of formation of the list of candidates resulting from the primary elections and the act of proclamation of candidates elected for the 2026 EG, issued by the OP on December 16, 2025, record the citizen as elected in the primary elections and not the candidate,” explained the JNE.
