This Thursday, Walter Correa participated in the inauguration of the new authorities of the Federation of Municipal Workers Unions of the province of Buenos Aires (FSTMPBA) that took place in the municipality of Hurlingham.
From there, the labor minister Buenos Aires asked the Federation of Municipal Unions to accompany the implementation of the Law of Municipal Parity, which seeks that all workers have decent wages, as explained Walter Correa.
“I ask the compañeros and compañeras of the municipal unions to accompany the Ministry of Labor to achieve thisand that article 49 is fully in force to create the Council that allows all mayors and mayors to comply with the Law, ”he said. Walter Correa.
At the same time, the president expressed that what is planned is to create the Council for the beginning of next year, just before beginning to negotiate the 2023 parities for all sectors.
The minister also stressed that this must be a joint effort of both the Government and the unions, so that no sector has wages that lose against inflation.
“With this work together, we want that in the first quarter of next year we can have the Council formed that will do justice, will mediate and settle so that municipal workers are not left out of the salary situation of the rest of the employees of the Province”, expressed the mandatary.
Meanwhile, representatives of unions from the 135 municipalities participated in the act of assuming the new authorities of the Federation of Municipal Unions. At the head of the entity, Humberto Bertinat, general secretary, and Walter Leonardi, assistant secretary, remained.
What is the Municipal Parity Law?
The Municipal Parity Law is one of the pending debts of Law 14,656, sanctioned in November 2014 and promulgated in January 2015. This establishes the creation of the Municipal Employment Council as a “consultative and advisory body of a non-binding nature, which may meet twice a year”.
However, after 7 years of having promulgated the law, the Council still has not finished conforming, which is the request of the Minister of Labor, who insisted on the importance of complying with this measure.
