US stock indices opened lower this Wednesdaywith investors’ attention focused on the Federal Reserve chairman’s testimony, Jerome Powellbefore Congress for clues about rising interest rates and the state of the economy.
At the open, the Industrial Average dow jones it fell 177.68 points, or 0.58%, to 30,352.57 units; the index S&P 500 it lost 30.90 points, or 0.82%, to 3,733.89 units; and the nasdaq Composite fell 127.35 points, or 1.15%, to settle at 10,941.95 points.
