More soccer figures are seeking to participate in the country’s politics in the upcoming 2026 General elections. Waldir Sáenz, Alianza Lima’s historic scorer, is added to the list, who will seek a place in the Chamber of Senators in next year’s elections.
The former soccer player will run as a candidate for the Regionalist National Integration Party (PRIN), with the number 10, curiously, the number he used during his time as a soccer player in the blue and white team.
Another ’10’ who would participate in the elections is Christian Cueva, who surprised last Thursday by announcing that he will begin a new stage in his public life, leaving his future in football on hold.
The popular ‘Aladino’ will run as a candidate for deputy in the 2026 General Elections with the Fuerza y Libertad party, a group led by former minister Fiorella Molinelli.
In a video broadcast by Atenas Televisión’s TikTok account, Cueva can be seen meeting with Molinelli, posing together for a photograph.
