The Minister of the Interior, Eduardo ‘Wado’ de Pedro, met this Thursday in Rome with his Italian counterpart, Luciana Lamorgese, in a meeting in which analyzed how to facilitate procedures for Argentine men and women with Italian citizenship, among other agenda items.

At noon, meanwhile, De Pedro will visit the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO, according to its acronym in English), in the framework of the presentation of interprovincial initiatives to increase the area of ​​food production, after being invited by the head of the organization, Qu Dongyu, during his visit to the city of Buenos Aires.

There, De Pedro will speak about the actions that the national government has been carrying out for the development of more productive areas in Argentina, through joint work with the provincesand among them the one linked to the region of the Submeridional Lowlands.

Last Monday, the national government and the provinces of Santa Fe, Chaco and Santiago del Estero presented to FAO the project aimed at recovering 5.4 million productive hectares in the area of ​​the Submeridional Lowlands, comprising part of the three districts.

“The initiative, which contributes to global food security, proposes to recover 5.4 million hectares, in a sustainable and harmonious manner with the environment, in the area of ​​the Submeridional Lowlands, which includes part of the provinces of Chaco, Santiago del Estero and Santa Fe”, Agriculture specified later in a statement.

The Submeridional Lowlands They constitute one of the most important wetlands in Argentina and have a total area of ​​5.5 million hectares. They are characterized by the alternation of floods and droughts in short periods of time, which cause serious social, productive and environmental consequences, it was reported.
