The Independent Union of Workers of the Volkswagen Automotive Industry (Sitiavw) will once again put to a vote the 2022 salary and contractual review agreement on August 31, after the labor authority ordered it to reinstate the process due to a low participation of workers in a previous exercise.
The agreement reached by the union leadership with the auto company consists of a 9 percent salary increase and 2 percentage points in benefits, but it was not approved in the vote held earlier this month.
In the initial vote on August 5, of a total of 6,867 workers, 4,835 participated (70.4 percent).

After qualifying the results, the Federal Center for Conciliation and Labor Registration (CFCRL) ordered a new vote and argued that it is with the purpose that more workers participate in the consultation exercise and obtain their majority support for the approval or not of the revision agreement

Of the total of 6 thousand 867 workers, 2 thousand 586 rejected the agreement, while 2 thousand 248 had voted in favor.
The consultation to be held on August 31 will be from 1:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the company’s facilities, in order to guarantee the participation of the workers of the three shifts, and thus obtain the result that unequivocally reflects the will of the majority of workers

In this way, the Sitiavw indicated that it requested a labor judge to extend the strike summons, for next September 9 at 11 am.
