Starting tomorrow, until Saturday December 13the First International Cocoa Fair of Excellence Peru – FICACAO 2025 begins, which will bring together cocoa producers from the five regions that make up the Valley of the Apurímac, Ene and Mantaro rivers (VRAEM).
It will be in the city of Pichari, province of the Cusco Convention and it is expected to attract more than 5 thousand visitorswho will also be able to take the Cocoa Route, traveling to cocoa farms, cocoa and chocolate processing plants, as well as in vitro cocoa laboratories, reported the president of the FICACAO-Pichari 2025 organizing committee, Hernán Palacios Tinoco.
He specified that The brands of cocoa and derivatives that will be presented at the fair correspond to cocoa organizations of the VRAEMand private enterprises that optimally manage the post-harvest for the external market, in addition to having international recognition in the specialty chocolate industry.
Sustainable
Among the brands, those led by women stand out, such as “Tsinane”, from the Agrarian Agroindustrial Cooperative Q’ori Warmi Ltda; “Otaris”, from the Agroindustrial Association of Women Cocoa and Coffee Producers of the VRAEM; “Chocotambo”, from the Association of Winning and Entrepreneurial Women of Tambo del Ene; and “Mallichiy”, from the AGROECovRAEM Association.
On the other hand, Other activities that will take place at the fair are the National Competition for the Best Cocoa Farm, to promote the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices in this crop. “Also the Cocoa Hands Contest, which consists of cutting and seeding cocoa,” explained Palacios Tinoco.
Buyers
Likewise, in what is called the business clinicled by Promperú, buyers from Canada, Russia, Belgium, the US and Japan will go to nearby plantations and hold technical-commercial meetings with producers.
For its part, the Ministry of Production (Produce) will organize the national business conference with more than ten corporate buyers in the country.
