Voters in three municipalities returned to the polls this weekend to elect mayors and deputy mayors. The supplementary elections were held by determination of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) after the winners in the 2020 municipal elections were impeached by the Electoral Justice for irregularities in the campaign.
In Garibaldi (RS), the elected mayor was Sérgio Chesini (PP), who obtained 81.19% of the valid votes. In Agudos do Sul (PR), Jesse Zoellner (PP) was elected with 52.56% of the valid votes. In Japaraíba (MG), Écio Veloso (PCdoB) won 50.16% of the votes and will command the city.
The newly elected ones will occupy the city halls until December 2024.
In March, voters in Itatiaia (RJ) and Murici das Portelas (PI) also returned to the polls after the mayors elected in 2020 were impeached.
