The internal elections of political parties this year may have a new way that is added to other international factors involved for quite some time in the same format, that anyone on the electoral roll can vote for any candidate of any party.
That is already happening in Argentina, to cite the closest example, and here the Colorados have said that the way in which they can prevent the agreement from presenting a single project is to prevent them from using the Colorado padron in the December 19 elections; but if the register is open to all colorados, they can vote for their candidates without any inconvenience, and those who are not included in said register, will do so with another candidate offered in the so-called Concertación.
The mechanism of seeking to muddy the court in any way does not do our democracy any good, and it is not the first time that we have had an issue of this type. On previous occasions they have been used in electoral and legal subterfuges to sideline a candidate, or to prevent a party from attaining power.
These types of issues in the 21st century are no longer rights, the sovereign has to participate in all possible ways, and the mechanism established according to the constitutional mandate is that the right and duty to vote should be open and free for all.
