The general secretary of Alliance for Progress (APP)Luis Valdez, assured that they will ask for explanations from the congressmen who voted in favor and abstained from granting the vote of confidence to the Cabinet of Aníbal Torres.
In statements to RPP, the former congressman assured that the party’s position was to reject the investiture of the team of ministers for having questioned members without any sign from the Executive of wanting to change them despite repeated requests since they were sworn into office.
“Finally we cannot force them, they are not subject to an imperative mandate but they will have to respond to Peruvians and their electorate to assess their position. We, as an institution, have a position that is firm and that we maintain”he pointed.
Luis Valdez emphasized the APP spokesman, Eduardo Salhuana, who was one of the two parliamentarians who voted in abstention and who allowed confidence to be granted to the Cabinet with 64 votes in favor.
“Next Tuesday (Eduardo Salhuana) must attend as a spokesman for the bench to explain what his position has been and in any case, his change of position. We understand that, as an institution, we cannot force you, but at least we have the right to ask you for an explanation”he stated.
The four APP congressmen who voted in favor were Freddy Díaz, Idelso García, Elva Julon and Luis Picon, while the two abstentions were Salhuana and Magaly Ruiz.
In total, 64 voted in favor of confidence, 58 against and 2 abstentions.
