Voracious police in December: More than 5 thousand fines in a week

The National Police applied 5 thousand 855 fines traffic in the last week of December 2022 as part of the “National Road Emergency Plan” executed within the framework of the year-end festivities.

The institution’s report details that, between December 26, 2022 and January 1 of this year, 6,859 vehicles were seized with prevention messages to their drivers and passengers.

The more than 5,000 tickets were related to speeding, lane encroachment and drunk driving. In addition, 2,225 fines were applied to motorcyclists who did not use a protective helmet.

According to the report, 178 drunken motorcycle drivers were fined and transferred to police units, seizing 390 motorcycles.

No deaths were registered in 137 municipalities of the country. Nationwide, 817 collisions were registered, 23 people dead and 67 injured.

Compared to the previous week, from December 19 to 25, there was one more death and 10 more injuries. Collisions decreased by 67.

The repressive institution ensures that, in the last week of December, road regulation was guaranteed in 75 dangerous road sections 24 hours a day in 511 critical points. In 94.6% of the sections with police coverage, there were no deaths or injuries in accidents.
