A raging forest fire was recorded in the last few hours in the Chingaza Natural Park, located in La Calera, near Bogotá, leaving serious effects on the flora and fauna that inhabit that ecosystem.

Everything indicates that the causes of the strong conflagration in the park, whose vegetation is what produces the water consumed in Bogotá, are due to a criminal action, since according to the investigation that is progressing at a rapid pace, the flames would have been caused.
The flames in Chingaza consumed 147 hectaresso the environmental impact in the area is completely negative.

Due to the fire, the visit to the Chingaza Natural Park was restricted, allowing only the entry of personnel authorized to attend to and control the forest fire.

Regarding the criminal action, the Minister of the Environment, Susana Muhamad, recalled that the sanctions are severe with sentences of up to 15 years in prison and financial fines.
For his part, the mayor of Bogotá, Carlos Fernando Galán, indicated that the environmental impact of the raging fire It is extremely serious.
“We are going to work on tools that allow us to identify who enters and who leaves,” he said in Noticias Caracol.
