Volunteer firefighters regret that authorities do not sanction arson

From Moscow Avenue, between the eighth and ninth rings, Álvaro Castillo, commander of the UUBR volunteer firefighters, made a video lamenting the fires caused in the capital of Santa Cruz, which are even recurring in the same places.

“It is sad to continue this activity and where I am is not the first time that we have started to extinguish an arson fire. In this place we already go like three times (in the year)controlling the fires that are caused by the owners themselves or by other people and that put the neighbors at risk,” he lamented.

Likewise, Castillo alluded to the authorities. He said that unfortunately there is no authority, be it municipal, departmental or nationalthat it begins to sanction this type of actions, which are recurring and which become more acute from June -until September-, due to the issue of winds, temperature, etc.

“Start punishing the bad neighbors, these owners, otherwise we will continue with this every year, with arson that gets out of control and puts people at risk who have nothing to do with those burned properties or land,” said.

According to the statistics of the UUBR firefighters, the greatest recurrence occurs within the Santa Cruz metropolitan area. “It happens both in the municipality of Santa Cruz and in those of Cotoca, El Torno, La Guardia, and Warnes”.
