The Italian team Sir Safety Susa Perugia, led by the Cuban nationalized Polish wilfredo leonwon his first volleyball Club World Championship title this Sunday.
Perugia, in which Jesús Herrera and Julio César Cárdenas are also Cubans, beat another Italian team, ITAS Trentino, by three sets, in the final of the tournament based in the Brazilian city of Betim, with León in star plan.

León from Santiago led the offensive work of his team, signing 17 points, 13 of them in attack and one in blocking, and added three units from the service line.
Among the winners, Oleh Plotnytsky also stood out, with 15 cards to his account, while from the opposite position the Antillean Jesús Herrera, who did not start as a starter, contributed nine cards, seven in attack and two defending the net.
The Trentino had their offensive pillars in the assistants Matey Kaziysk (16 points) and Alessandro Michieletto, the latter recent world champion with Italy and now with 19 goals signed. Although they managed to outdo their opponent in reception (73 for 68% effectiveness) and in fewer errors (30-34), this was not enough to change the history of the final.

Perugia started among the favorites to reach the throne defended by Brazilian Sada Cruzeiro from Cuban Miguel Ángel López, and reached the prelude to the title after defeating Itambé Minas in straight sets (25-19, 25-19, 25-17) , also from the South American giant, with 11 goals contributed by León. Already in the dispute for the scepter, the Italian club finally imposed its quality.
Meanwhile, the crown of Sada Cruzeiro rolled in the semifinal match, when Trentino showed overwhelming in the three sets of the duel (25-13, 25-22, 25-17), with World Cup players Michieletto and Daniele Lavia scoring 16 and 13 points, respectively.
However, Sada did not leave empty-handed, reaching bronze in another disputed match against Minas. After losing 20-31 in the opening set, the winners took the remaining three with scores of 26–24, 25–21 and 25-19, with the Brazilian star Wallace de Souza as the top figure, scoring 23 goals.
The volleyball Club World Cups, in its men’s version, have been held since 1989, but suffered a pause between 1993 and 2008. In addition to their first scepter, Perugia achieved a hitherto unprecedented podium finish.
For their part, Trentino let their sixth title escape this Sunday, although they also display three bronze medals in their showcases. Since the resumption of the joust, he has achieved four consecutive coronations (2009-2012), and he added another scepter in the 2018 edition.
Sada Cruzeiro remains the second most winning team in these tournaments with four trophies, since in addition to the previous edition, it had reigned in the 2013, 2015 and 2016 versions.
