Volleyball Pan American Cup: Cuba vs. canada today

The Cuban women’s team will face Canada today on the first day of the Pan American Volleyball Cup, which takes place in Hermosillo, Mexico, until the next day 28.

The Cubans will meet the Canadians in Group B on Sunday, to later deal with Mexico (Monday 22), Nicaragua (Tuesday 23) and Colombia (Wednesday 24).

In segment A, the United States, the Dominican Republic, Peru, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica appear, all in search of qualifying for the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile 2023.

The program announced by the organizers also includes the Dominican Republic-Costa Rica, United States-Peru and Mexico-Nicaragua matches for today.

The first places in each group will advance directly to the semifinals on Saturday the 27th, while the second and third places will go to the quarterfinals on Friday the 26th, through the crossed system.

The discussion of the fifth place and the bronze and gold medals will be on Sunday 28.

The Cuban team is made up of passers Gretell Moreno and Thalia Moreno, opposites Greisy Fine, Dezirett Madan and central defenders Jessica Aguilera, Yamisleydis Viltres, Laura Suárez and Dayana Martínez.

The wingers Ailama Cesé, Sulian Matienzo and Claudia Tarín, and the libero Elemai Miranda complete the selection.

The United States has won the Cup seven times, followed by the defending champion Dominican Republic, with five titles, Cuba (4) and Brazil (3).
