The Cuban volleyball player Miguel Angel Lopez He closed the 2025 season with the satisfaction of having played this Sunday in the final of the Men’s World Club Championship, and, incidentally, celebrated his inclusion in the ideal team of the tournament held in the city of Belem, Brazil.
The contribution of the Cienfuegos player was key for the Japanese Osaka Blueton to advance to the dispute for the scepter, which after three sets (24-20, 25-21 and 29-27) ended up for the third time in the showcases of the Italian team Sir Sicoma Perugia, according to what published on the FIBV website.

In this way, the Europeans recovered the crown they won in the 2022 and 2023 editions, after being absent from last year’s call.
With their new consecration, the Italians became the third team to file three or more titles in these fights; until now a privilege only of his compatriots from Itas Trentino and the Brazilian team Sada Cruzeiro – in which the Cuban played before going to Japan -; both with five trophies.
The publication highlights that each success of Perugia has been achieved with an undefeated performance, this time with five successes in a row; one more than in previous coronations. During the journey they only lost a couple of sets, precisely against Osaka in the group segment.
This time the winners were led by the Tunisian opponent Wassim Ben Tara, author of 16 goals, two more than what was achieved by the captain of the Japanese team, Yuji Nishida.
López continues to shine
In the decisive match, Miguel Ángel López was once again one of the offensive references of his team, who intervened for the second time in the tournament to take a representative from Japan to the final for the first time.
From his position, the Cuban contributed 10 points, one of them with the block and another from the service line, to reach the figure of 65, which placed him in fourth place on the list of top scorers of the tournament, led by Ben Tara (71).
