Airline Voepass announced on Tuesday (20) that it will stop operating daily flights to nine destinations until October 26. In a statement, the company said that the measure is a readjustment of operations after the crash of the ATR 72-500 turboprop, which was on flight 2283 and which crashed in Vinhedo (SP), on the 9th of this month. The accident killed all 62 people on board.
Earlier, the Brazil Agency had reported that the company would suspend ticket sales to some destinations.
According to Voepass, flights to Fortaleza, Belo Horizonte and Porto Seguro (BA) have been suspended since the 9th. From August 26th, routes to Salvador, Natal and Mossoró (RN) will cease to operate, and on September 2nd, routes to São José do Rio Preto (SP), Cascavel (PR) and Rio Verde (GO).
“With one less aircraft in its fleet, Voepass Linhas Aéreas informs that it was necessary to carry out a readjustment in its network. The measure aims to guarantee a significant improvement in the passenger experience, minimizing possible delays and cancellations”, informs the note released by Voepass.
According to the company, passengers who purchased tickets for the canceled flights will be “treated in accordance with Resolution 400 of the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac)”, which deals with the conditions for transporting passengers.
In the event of delays, cancellations and interruptions of air transport services, ANAC advises affected passengers to contact the airline responsible for the flight. The airline must comply with the provisions set forth in Resolution No. 400 of December 13, 2016.
According to the resolution, in the event of service interruption, the company must offer “alternatives for re-accommodation, reimbursement and execution of the service using another mode of transport, with the choice being made by the passenger”.
