The Judiciary (PJ) will evaluate on Tuesday, January 13, the request of the Public Ministry to expand the investigation against the owner of Free Peru, Vladimir Cerronwho has been a fugitive from justice for 793 days.
Judge Leodan Ayala will be in charge of the respective hearing and will hear the allegations of the Attorney General’s Office, which has requested that the investigation period be extended to carry out a series of procedures necessary for the process that continues against Cerrón for the alleged illegal financing of the electoral campaigns of the Lapicito group between 2008 and 2021.
Due to these facts, it should be remembered, the Public Ministry is investigating Cerrón for the alleged crimes of money laundering and criminal organization.
The owner of Perú Libre, who from hiding has announced his candidacy for the first vice presidency for Perú Libre, has been a fugitive since October 6, 2023 when he was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison for the Wanka Aerodrome case.
Last March, however, he was acquitted by the Supreme Court of Justice, leaving said sentence null and void.
However, there is another mandate of preventive detention for 36 months for alleged crimes of money laundering and criminal organization.
The measure was challenged by his legal defense, but on December 4, the Sixth National Preparatory Investigation Court declared his lawyer’s request to replace preventive detention with an appearance with restrictions as unfounded.
