The Minister of Health, Carla Vizzottiargued this Monday that “far from the alleged ‘lack of State protection for maternity’, the 1000 Days Law is there to accompany those who so decide during pregnancy and from birth to 3 years of age,” in response to the editorial of a morning titled “For Life, always”.
“About the editorial ‘For life, always’ published -without signature, again- in @LANACION , I want to highlight the scope and objectives of the ILE/IVE Access Law and the 1000 Days Law, both implemented in all of Argentina,” Vizzotti said on his account on the social network Twitter.
“Very far from the alleged “lack of protection of the State to maternity”, the 1000 Days Law is to accompany during pregnancy and from birth to 3 years, whoever so decides.
“1000 Days and IVE/ILE are complementary laws that extend rights, not curtail them”, added.

In the editorial quoted by Minister Vizzotti, it is mentioned that “the arguments of those who promoted the enactment of the law emphasized the reality of women with zero or few financial resources in supposed contrast to those who could access other types of attention. They described the situation that was posed in such a way as social hypocrisy”.
“However, legalizing abortion was recognizing the failure of the protection that the State owes to motherhood and its laudable fruit and, therefore, a hypocrisy in any case equal to or even greater than the previous one,” added the editorial of The nation.
“Guaranteeing access to voluntary and legal termination of pregnancy is a milestone in health matters but, above all, an extension of rights that respects the will of people with the capacity to gestate,” added the head of the portfolio of Health .
“The rights conquered by society are defended. Always”, Vizzotti added.
