Brazilian Vitória Machado received this Wednesday (18) an invitation to represent Brazil in snowboard competitions at the next edition of the Paralympic Winter Games, which will be held in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina between March 6th and 15th.
The invitation, made by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC, in English), was accepted, informed the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) and the Brazilian Snow Sports Confederation (CBDN).
In this way, the Brazilian delegation in Italy will consist of eight athletes, the largest in the country in the history of the Winter Games.
In addition to Vitória, Brazil will be represented in Milan and Cortina by André Barbieri from Rio Grande do Sul, in snowboarding, and Wellington da Silva, Elena Regina and Guilherme Cruz Rocha from São Paulo, Aline Rocha from Paraná, Cristian Ribera from Rondônia, and Robelson Lula from Paraíba, all in cross-country skiing.
The Milan and Cortina Games will mark Brazil’s fourth participation in the Paralympic Winter Games. The debut took place in 2014, in Sochi (Russia), with two athletes. Four years later, in PyeongChang (South Korea), the Brazilian delegation had three representatives. In Beijing (China), in 2022, the country had its biggest mission so far, with six athletes.
