The president Luis Abinader This Saturday he held a supervision visit to the works of construction of the campus of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) in the municipality of SabanetaSantiago Rodríguez province, a work that exceeds RD$600 million in investment and is part of the expansion plan of the higher education public in the Northwest Line.
During the tour, the president was received by the vice minister of Construction of the Ministry of Housing and buildings (Mived), Claudio Espinalwho explained that the work is 65% complete.
The official explained that the infrastructure includes three buildings main:
- The administrative area
- The classroom block
- an auditorium
He indicated that the next steps inside the work schedule so that the entire project is ready in mid of year.
“This is basically a supervision tour where the president is very interested in seeing the progress of the project. It was explained to him that it consists of three buildings main: the administrative areathe area of classrooms and the auditorium. We have already defined, by way of programming, what are the next steps to give so that complete work be ready in the middle of the year,” Espinal said.
The new university headquarters will have a teaching building four levels with 24 classrooms and four laboratoriesin addition to a three-level administrative building.
It will have the capacity to accommodate more than a thousand students, expanding access to higher education in the Northwest Line.
Reactions and measures against obstacles on the job
During the visit, the senator of the province Santiago Rodríguez, Antonio Martewho has accompanied the president in different inaugurations and supervisions of works in the demarcation, reported that a person who owns a home located within the project perimeter He refuses to leave the property.
Given this situation, the legislator recommended that the president issue a public utility declaration on housing to allow the continuity of the work.
