It’s official! Guillermo ‘Billy’ Viscarra will play for Alianza Lima in Peru from 2025. This was confirmed by the goalkeeper himself after the match between The Strongest and Oriente Petrolero in La Paz, which ended with a 6-2 win in favor of the team. Viscarra acknowledged that he will finish the Clausura tournament with Tigre and, later, he will travel to Lima to undergo the corresponding medical examinations.
“I am very excited about this opportunity. The agreement is already made and I must finish the tournament with Tigre; I hope to do it in the best way. Then it will be time to go to the medical check-up in Lima and I will have to comply with what the club requests,” said Viscarra.
Likewise, Viscarra acknowledged that Alianza Lima bought his entire pass and that he will sign a two-year contract. “It is a total purchase; I’m going for two years with the option of one more year. I can only thank the Tigre and its fans, all those who are part of the institution. “They have supported me at all times,” he indicated.
“I wanted this moment so much; I was looking to go outside. I wanted this challenge, I needed it in my career; I’m going to a very big club and I hope to continue growing and showing what I can give. I seek to raise the name of Bolivia high. For me it is a pride to represent the country abroad,” he added.
The goalkeeper also recognized that this opportunity will allow him to arrive in good shape for next year’s matches with the Bolivian team, with which he aims to reach the World Cup in 2026.
“Every year we have very nice challenges coming up with the national team; We have to be ready, all Bolivians are excited about reaching the World Cup and we are aware of that. We want to prepare in the best way to reach the Qualifiers well,” he concluded.
This will be Viscarra’s third experience outside the country, as he previously played for Vitória de Bahía in Brazil and Hapoel Ra’anana AFC in Israel. In Bolivia, he played for Bolívar and Oriente Petrolero. He is also the undisputed starter of the Bolivian national team, playing a large part of the matches in the South American Qualifiers.
