Alejandro García Villalón, better known as Virulo, returns to Mexico with the show “Chronicles of the pandemic”, as part of his tour of that country.
The Cuban musician and humorist offers the Mexican land a very special show, where he has sung the songs of his latest record production, which bears the same name, which he composed during these two years of quarantine due to the presence of the Covid – 19 in Cuba.
Part of the most significant moments of the show has been the heartfelt tribute to the percussionist Rolando Valdés, a faithful friend of the composer, who recently died from the consequences of the coronavirus, an event that has still not been overcome.
“Rolandito was one more victim. I think we all have injuries from this pandemic. He was an extraordinary musician, founder of the Sound Experimentation Group of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC)”, he described in other interviews about the loss of his colleague.
Likewise, Virulo commented before leaving for Mexico that he was very, very anxious to play in a country that he has enjoyed so much on other occasions, but that after two years, it is as if it were the first time again.
The cities through which he will be visiting will be Sonora, Sinaloa, Tijuana, Mexico City CDMX, Morelia, Cuernavaca and finally Cancun, extending the tour until March 5.
The Aztec public will enjoy the ten songs that make up their recent CD, where son, guaracha, conga and bolero come together in harmony.
Alejandro García Villalón is a founding member of the Nueva Trova Cubana. He has been a host, scriptwriter and director of television programs and theater groups, as well as a composer for the soundtracks of some movies and cartoons.
He directed the National Theater Ensemble in Havana and was director of the National Ensemble of Shows of Cuba and the National Center for the Promotion of Humor.
