From October 23 to 26, it took place the first Craft Selection virtual auctiona space that brought together the most exceptional batches of specialty coffee. The result? After three days of bidding, the event reached a record for the sector in prices and participation.

As part of this selection, the winners of the last ten editions of the ‘Colombia, Land of Diversity’ contest were called. to represent the excellence of Colombian coffee.
According to data from the National Federation of Coffee Growers (FNC), buyers from Asia, Europe and America actively participated in 534 offers on 20 lotsequivalent to 960 kilograms of coffee, reaching a total sales value of 98,533 dollars per pound.
According to José Martínez, director of transformation and added value at the FNC, “This auction marks a before and after in the marketing of Colombian specialty coffee. Not only did we break price and participation records, but we demonstrated to the world the sensory richness and excellence of our producers. Each bid was a recognition of the work of thousands of coffee growers who make it possible for Colombia to continue being synonymous with quality.”
On average, The auction recorded a price of $46.57 per poundreflecting the strong appreciation of Colombian coffee in international markets.

The results show that the lot with the highest price was that of producer Wilton Benítez, from the Paraíso 92 farm, in the department of Cauca, which was sold at $200.32 per pound. This figure represents the highest value recorded for a 100% Colombian coffeeestablishing a new benchmark for the national industry.
“This event represents a decisive step to strengthen direct marketing channels, increase added value for producing communities and give greater international visibility to the Colombian origin,” highlighted the Federation.
This auction, made for the first time 100% onlinerepresents a step by the FNC towards a more modern and transparent marketing model, which seeks to promote competition and the valorization of the grain produced in Colombia.
