This modality is a crime that could occur through a transaction of sale or purchase of a product or merchandise via telephone or virtual, where the person delivers the money in advance, but does not receive the requested product or merchandise, warned Captain Daniel Cárdenas of the Directorate of Judicial Investigation.
In this way, the person or client is deceived. These scams can occur through cyber media or even through nationally recognized pages that offer some products, which is why people should remain cautious in order to avoid scams, said Cárdenas.
The captain recommended not only keeping an eye on the page but also investigating whether the business premises whose address is advertised actually exists. Also, he recommended not to make any bank deposit if there is no product and if the person is not known, the purchases must be made through known and reliable intermediaries.
