The ‘Mamita’ from Cotoca returned to her sanctuary after spending 24 hours in the Santa Cruz capital. Starting this Tuesday, the novena will be held for the patron saint of Santa Cruz and eastern Bolivia, whose feast is celebrated every December 8, the day of the Immaculate Conception of Mary.
The Virgin of Cotoca was dismissed with a Eucharistic celebration in the Cathedral, in which hundreds of faithful participated.
In his homily, Monsignor René Leigue, Archbishop of Santa Cruz, called for peace and unity. “The ‘Mommy’ calls us to listen to each other and walk together”, he recalled this year’s motto and then indicated: “we need to listen to each other. María does not want her children to be at odds, to be divided; nor that there is anger or resentment ”.
And he added: “I ask that, as people of faith, be coherent between what they live inside the temple and life who live outside.” He questioned the insults and the search for one’s own interests above the common good.
Monsignor René Leigue described these days as an intense week of prayer, since, from Tuesday, until the eve of the feast of the Virgin of Cotoca, representatives of the different vicariates of the archdiocese will make a pilgrimage to his sanctuary, as a sign of faith.
The first day of the novena will be the turn of the San Lorenzo vicarage; the second, the Vicaría Virgen de Cotoca; the third, Virgin of Guadalupe; the fourth, Santa Rosa de Lima; the fifth, Saint Paul; the sixth, the Sanctuary; the seventh, the vicarage of San Pedro and the eighth, the vicarages of Santiago Apóstol and San Juan XXIII.
