At least ten people were arrested during the Virada Cultural, held this Saturday (28) and Sunday (29) in São Paulo. According to the São Paulo State Secretariat for Public Security (SSP), most were detained in the central region.
Four cell phones and a knife were also seized. The thefts and robberies scared the public that went to watch the shows in the early hours of Saturday to Sunday in Vale do Anhangabau, in the center of the city. Videos circulating on social media show people being attacked or fleeing fights in the region. The Military Police reported having approached 585 people and monitored the entire event with cameras.

On Sunday afternoon, the weather was calm in the central region. Vocalist Marcelo D2, from Planet Hemp, the band that closed the event, even highlighted the fact that no confusion happened during the presentation.
After two years of a pandemic, the Cultural Virada returned to take place in person in the capital of São Paulo. During the event, several cultural actions are carried out such as musical shows, performances, dances and presentations for a period of 24 hours.
Unlike previous editions – with the exception of the one that took place in 2017 -, the city of São Paulo decided this year to decentralize the attractions, leaving few stages in the center of the capital. And it determined that, to enter the Anhangabaú Valley, people had to go through a search.
The initial estimate of the São Paulo City Hall was to attract 2 million people with 300 artistic attractions spread throughout the city.
