Islamic extremists entrenched themselves inside Al-Aqs, on the Temple Mount in Israel, and introduced fireworks, clubs and violently entrenched stones with the aim of disturbing order while desecrating the mosque.
After the irruption of the group, the police tried to talk, without results and the extremists refused to let the Muslim parishioners into the mosque, and even threatened that the afternoon prayers would not be carried out. For this reason “the security forces were forced to act to restore order.”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu assured that “Israel is committed to maintaining freedom of worship, open access to all faiths and the status quo on the Temple Mount and will not allow violent extremists to change this.”
