The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, welcomed this Sunday the instruction made by President Luis Arce to investigate the complaint by former President Evo Morales about an alleged attack on his life.
“We welcome the announcement of President Luis Arce“We hope that the aforementioned investigation clarifies the facts and that firm action is taken against any responsibility that arises from it,” Almagro wrote in his account on X.
He stressed that “violence has no place or justification in politics or by extension in our societies.”
Arce, also through social networks, instructed an immediate and thorough investigation “in response to former President Evo Morales’ complaint of an alleged attack on his life.”
Early this Sunday, a video was published on Morales’ Facebook account to denounce that “this was the attempted arrest” of the former president in the tropics of Cochabamba and then that text was changed to: “this was the attempted arrest.” assassination…”
The video generated a series of doubts among Morales’ adversaries, who even considered that it was a self-attack.
However, Morales said that “the assassination attempt carried out this morning consisted of a combined operation with the military and police forces that failed thanks to the strength and organization” of his companions.
