Prevention project was presented at the Departmental Board
With the objective of promoting an inter -institutional strategy that allows to address the bullying in Cerro Largo, an integral mayor of the Bank of the 93rd of the National Party developed a proposal to eradicate violence and bullying in the educational centers of the department.
“I want to refer to a problem, that it exists always today studies are known that show that it is affecting the population to a greater extent: I mean bullying, violence and especially bullying.” He began his exhibition Mariana Caltieri.
“In this sense, I want to present a project entitled Departmental Campaign for the Prevention of Harassment, Violence and Bullying in Educational Centers of Cerro Largo” revealed.
“This is a problem that affects children and adolescents throughout the country. In Uruguay, different studies point out that more than 40% of children between 9 and 11 years have suffered some type of bullying. It is for that reason that there is a chronic absenteeism in public schools, reaching critical levels” He argued during the last session of the Departmental Board of Cerro Largo.
“Despite the existence of national regulations- Law 19.098- that urges them to elaborate a protocol for prevention, detection and intervention in the abuse of educational centers and Law 20.235 that declares the 1st week of November of national interest as a week of prevention and awareness against violence and harassment, it is necessary that from the departmental government a territorial strategy is impulsed Institutional efforts to prevent and address this scourge early, continuous and closely ” proposed the mayor of the National Party, List 93.
“Given this, the launch of a comprehensive departmental campaign is proposed with emphasis on prevention, emotional education, community involvement and the generation of safe spaces for childhood” Mariana Caltieri argued.
“This project not only contemplates the attention to victims but also the approach to children who exercise bullying” He stressed. “These must attend therapeutic instances with professionals and the participation of parents is expected, who will have the responsibility of accompanying this process. Education and prevention must begin at home and extend to school” said.
The general objective of this draft is to design and implement a campaign to prevention of bullying in the department of Cerro Largo through workshops, community awareness and dissemination actions in the media with active participation of ANEP, departmental intention, INAU, ASSE, Ministry of Interior among other institutions.
Among the specific objectives are the development of empathy and solidarity in peers, the promotion of the peaceful resolution of conflicts and attorney communication. “It seeks to provide tools to boys and girls to recognize, avoid and report situations of both physical and psychological harassment; generate spaces for reflection and emotional expression that strengthen self -esteem and trust; promote an inter -institutional work network to address critical cases; generate support networks between teachers, families, community and national and departmental organizations” established.
Mariana Caltieri requested that the proposal be elevated to the commissions of education, culture, nomenclature and human rights, social policies, family and gender equity of the Departmental Board to analyze its viability, establish a work schedule and articulate with the institutions linked to the subject.
