Within the framework of the recently approved Amnesty Law, the coordinator of the Program for Democratic Peace and Coexistence, Ernesto Villegas, stressed that the social agenda must be a priority at this time in the country, and not political agendas.
In that sense, he indicated that Venezuela is moving towards peace in an auspicious manner and the common citizen aspires to economic stability, vindication of their rights and a life in peace; Therefore, “the social agenda must be put ahead of political agendas.”
During an interview he offered to a private television channel, which he shared on his Instagram account, Villegas recalled that the national legal system remains fully in force and specified that the amnesty law does not stop the rest of the legal framework. “We must go towards rechanneling justice,” he said.
Likewise, he reported that a consultation and communication process has been opened on judicialized cases of agricultural sectors, tenants and workers, with institutional willingness to attend to them, whether or not they are contemplated in the amnesty.
Therefore, he invited you to review the Instagram account of the president of the special commission of the National Assembly, deputy Jorge Arreaza, where information is offered about the procedure for requests.
He took the opportunity to highlight data from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), according to which 99% of those consulted feel proud to be Venezuelan and 84% prefer agreement rather than confrontation, ensuring that these figures reflect the country’s majority vocation for democratic coexistence.
«We must execrate behaviors, not human beings; make peace and coexistence hegemonic and identify those who misread this moment and seek to go back to past episodes,” he expressed, noting that “it is up to this generation to gather its greatest capabilities to guarantee current and future generations a life in peace and coexistence.”
