President Luis Abinader, accompanied by first lady Raquel Arbaje, inaugurated this Monday the long-awaited “Villa Navidad” at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, a space dedicated to enjoyment, family coexistence and the celebration of the Christmas season.
The event, which brought together hundreds of children and parents, marks the official start of the festivities promoted by the Government to bring joy to the population.
During the event, the president highlighted that December is a time destined to strengthen human ties, promote hope and share with family. Amid laughter and applause from the children’s audience, Abinader asked the children for “a loud shout of joy,” a gesture that ignited the festive atmosphere of the opening.
“Today is the first of December, and this is a special time… a time of love, joy, unity and hope. We leave the negative behind and remember the positive with optimism for a new year,” Abinader expressed during his speech.
The president also encouraged families to experience the magic of Christmas accompanied not only by direct relatives, but also by friends and close people who are part of daily life:
“May this be a magical time, where we always smile. We want parents to come here with their children, grandparents with their grandchildren, nephews with their uncles… for everyone to live a special moment in this Christmas Village,” he added.
The initiative is supported by different Government institutions, including the Reserve Bank, city councils, ministries and private organizations that contributed to create a safe, illuminated space full of activities for the whole family.
Villa Navidad will have themed areas, artistic presentations, games, shows, lights, children’s characters and activities aimed at entertaining children, young people and adults throughout the Christmas season.
