Villa Dolores Park extends visiting days

The Municipality of Montevideo informed that the Villa Dolores Park (Av. Rivera 3245), inserted in the heart of Montevideo, will be open to the public from Wednesday to Sunday, starting on August 3, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Admission is free, without the need for a reservation, and admission is through Dolores Pereira de Rossell street. The park is also open on labor holidays. In addition, for inquiries, the telephone line 1950 ext. 8556 is enabled, which works from Monday to Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Villa Dolores has established itself as a place for the enjoyment and enjoyment of citizenship. It has extensive green areas and infrastructures that support educational and recreational devices with innovative features.

The preservation of non-transferable species motivated the transformation of the animal sector into natural environments, moving from the old seven-hectare Villa Dolores zoo to a park that integrates animal care, privileging endangered native and regional fauna.

Recovered spaces:

  • Jaguars: Threatened with extinction in South America, extinct in Uruguay, a 2000-meter enclosure with a pool and space for care by veterinarians was built.

  • Flamingos: An environment with a lake was created for them, which promoted reproduction (it is very difficult for them to lay eggs) for the first time in history. Nesting beach is maintained and aesthetically enhanced with mirrors and music.
  • Isla del Lago: Passage of monkeys, with free transfer to the bedrooms.
  • Peccaries: They need grass cover, trees for their shelter and food, they weigh between 30 and 40 kilos, they are herbivores and their diet is made up of fruits, leaves and tubers, they are sociable animals that live in groups of 2 to 30 individuals.
  • Birds: Australian Parrots – They are currently in the “Sanit Cage”, a historic construction that was donated in 1925.
  • Prairie: The prairie is part of our terrestrial ecosystem in Uruguay, with low grasses, thickets and areas with scattered trees or in small groups.
  • Tigre: He is Asian, he is 18 years old, he was recovered from a circus, his life expectancy is 20 years, he went from a 50 m2 cage to an enclosure with 800 m2 of free space.
  • Children’s Zoo: Learn with the use of ICTs and virtual development.
  • Children’s Games: Designed and thought for the enjoyment of the little ones.
  • Gastronomy Plaza: It was designed and thought to offer different gastronomic services, between a pause between sidewalks.
  • Selva Sudamericana: Platform for research and protection of fauna species in our country.
  • Roads: Passable with 100% accessibility.
  • Accessibility to areas with heritage value, promotion of a new participatory, committed and responsible citizenship.
