The authorities in Colombia keep the Tropical Cyclone Alert Technical Table active, in the face of new changes.
The Tropical Cyclone Alert Technical Table, made up of Ideam, the General Maritime Directorate (Dimar), Aerocivil, the Colombian Air Force (FAC) and the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD), reported that is constantly monitoring a tropical wave located in the center of the Atlantic Ocean.
The entities stated that This natural phenomenon could evolve into a cyclonic system in the coming days.
According to the most recent analysis, the probability that the phenomenon will become a tropical cyclone in the Colombian Caribbean Sea is low (30% within the next seven days).
However, they warn that Weather models indicate that the approach of the system could generate a considerable increase in rain, winds and waves early or mid next week.

The Technical Board highlighted that it maintains constant monitoring of atmospheric and oceanic conditions, with the purpose of providing timely and verified information to both local authorities and the community in general.
“For now, no alert level has been activated, but the entity assured that any relevant change will be communicated immediately, in case the system evolves and represents a threat to the national territory,” he highlighted.
The UNGRD called on citizens to only consult information through official channels and follow the recommendations of the National Disaster Risk Management System, in order to avoid misinformation and guarantee an adequate response to any eventuality.
