In its first official tour of the South of the Department, the Secretary of Tourism of the Intendencia de Soriano, Lic. Noemí Viera, visited the town of Agraciada and the emblematic beach of the Agraciad.
The hierarchy was received by the Secretary of the Local Board, Juan José Mora, and the local political reference, Gustavo Fassi, with whom he held meetings and toured various points of interest.
Viera stressed that the main objective of this first visit was to collect concerns, proposals and ideas of local neighbors and actors. “We are receiving opinions, ideas, we write everything, and then with the tourism team it will be analyzed to delineate the actions of the five -year period,” he explained to El Eco.
Greater tourist promotion for the south of the department
One of the central proposals was the lack of tourist promotion for this area of the department. Viera admitted the claim and assured that the intention is generating strategies to make more localities such as Agraca, Villa Soriano and La Concordia, through the creation of specific audiovisual material.
“It is important that smaller places also have their space when we represent the department at tourist fairs. We are working on scripts to perform promotional videos,” said the secretary, while highlighting the natural and human potential of Agraciada, especially in the summer season.
Artigas Park and Child Recreation
One of the orders received was the incorporation of new recreational games in the Artigas Park. Although this initiative depends on the sports area, Viera promised to transfer the concern to the corresponding director.
Infrastructure: camping, bathrooms and accessibility
The tour also included the beach of the Agraciada, there they raised various improvements in infrastructure, including the expansion of the campsite, installation of a new battery of bathrooms, and the maintenance of the existing ones.
In addition, the access ramp to the beach was considered very relevant, with an inclusive look towards people with disabilities. “It is an issue that I already thought and seems fundamental to me. Inclusion must be present in all spaces,” said Viera.
The Parador and the Private Role
As for the agracy hostel, the hierarch highlighted that the current winner is interested in improving infrastructure. He indicated that, although the final award does not correspond to define it, “value positively” that there are proposals from the private sector.
“We like to see the reality of the places, talk to those who camp and observe the movement. All that adds when evaluating and presenting concrete ideas,” he said.
Coastal erosion: a national challenge
One of the emerging issues was the concern for the erosion of the coast, which also affects the graceful. The secretary explained that it is a phenomenon that occurs at the national level and that meetings with the national government are just beginning. “The issue will be raised before the Ministry, to know the vision they have of the problem,” he said.
Ordoñana stay: recover the historical and tourist value
The visit included a tour of the Ordoñana stay helmet, which is under the care of the municipal official, Paula Gardiol. In this patrimonial good there is a project to improve building infrastructure and enhance the place tourist. The secretary stressed the importance of public-private synergy as a development model.
“There is interest of the mayor to advance in reforms. The idea is that the Intendance gives the initial kick, but then private operators appear with proposals. That generates employment, dynamizes the local economy and benefits everyone,” he said.
Expectations
The visit of Lic. Noemí saw a significant step in the recognition of the needs of southern Soriano.
The hierarchy bets on strengthening local tourism, improving infrastructure and promoting the participation of the private sector, with a view to sustained development that includes the entire community.
