A security camera captured the moment when a bus full of tourists slides on the Boulevard del Este highway, Bavarian, La Altagracia province. The accident it claimed the lives of two tourists and 48 were injured.
According to the preliminary report of the Emergency Operations Centerthe bus driver lost control, while trying to avoid hitting a car and a truck, and for this reason it went off the road and overturned.
However, a tourist of Chilean nationality who survived the accidentdenied the preliminary report of the Dominican authorities in a media outlet in his country, assuring that the driver had an accident because he was speeding and not because he was performing a maneuver to avoid impact with a truck.
Dominique Esperanza Dreckmann spoke live to the Chilean news program Meganoticias, from Hospiten Bavarianwhere he receives medical care after the accident.
“The bus driver is not as reported that he collided with a wall to avoid a truck, that was not the case, the driver was speeding and he took a curve with that speed, which resulted in overturning” , assured.
The authorities reported that 14 of the injured are inmates at the Punta Cana Medical Center, 15 at the IMG Hospital and 19 at Hospiten.
