The opponents Enrique Márquez and Biagio Pilieri were released this Thursday, as confirmed by journalist Vladimir Villegas in a video published on his Instagram account.
“How nice to see you here,” is heard in the video.
Outside the prisons of El Helicoide, in Caracas, and El Rodeo I, in the state of Miranda, nearly a hundred relatives remain waiting for the announced releases to occur.
During an appearance before journalists, the president of Parliament and chief negotiator of Chavismo, Jorge Rodríguez, announced this Thursday the release of “a significant number of people”, which includes Venezuelans and foreigners – without specifying the number or the conditions -, as a “unilateral gesture” to “consolidate peace and peaceful coexistence in the country.”
The announcement comes after the president of the United States, Donald Trump, announced on Tuesday the alleged closure of a “torture chamber” in Caracas and the country was left in charge of until now Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, after the capture of Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, by US troops during a military operation in the South American country.
